Honolulu International: A Screenplay
A one-act set in a TSA line at the end of a senior trip, where a friend group that seemed so close comes apart at the seams.

Best friends, Gregory and Leah confront their friends Morgan and Maddie at the airport at the end of their senior trip. Waiting in line at the airport for TSA Gregory and Leah finally call out their friends for mistreating them and get Maddie to admit that she cheated on her boyfriend that is recovering from an accident, currently paralyzed in the hospital. The tension had been building all week, especially after Maddie and Morgan ditched Gregory and Leah, while on their vacation together, to meet up with random men. The play continues with the aftermath of this confrontation and seeing a friend group that seemed so close, fall apart at the seams.
Act One
Scene 1
Honolulu International Airport, June 2022
Curtains open to four tense friends holding their heavy luggage, waiting in a long line to go through security at the airport before flying home from their senior trip in Hawaii.
GregoryI can’t believe our trip is coming to an end.
LeahWe had a great time. Well, at least we did! [gestures at Gregory]
GregoryYeah! We did everything we wanted to do and more This is the trip we have dreamed of for years Leah I can’t believe it finally happened for us!

MaddieDo you guys have something to say? Why are you excluding Me and Morgan as if we weren’t on this trip with you guys?
MorganSeriously guys! You are not subtle at all.
GregoryLadies? Are you forgetting that you both disappeared last night and lied to us about where you went. You act like we have no reason to treat you like that.
LeahI can’t believe you don’t see anything wrong with what you did.
MorganGuys what are you talking about? I am allowed to go out with a guy if I want. I am not in a relationship and I can make my own decisions.
GregoryWhile that may be true and I would never judge you for anything like that, It is not cool how you treated me and Leah. You guys lied about where you were going and then we see you with strange men.
LeahAnd Maddie, you should be ashamed of what you did.
MaddieWhat did I do?
GregoryHow can you lie to your best friends so easily?
LeahMaddie we know you CHEATED!
Shocked face, speechless, starts crying
GregoryHow could you do that to him when he is literally in a hospital paralyzed, trying to recover from an intense accident.
